winter-wedding-inspiration

Ok, we’re in October, which means we’re still Autumn, but todays blog is all about winter wedding inspiration. Your winter wedding is coming up fast, there are lots of reasons why you may have chosen a winter wedding, for example the hope of snow and frost, a love of Christmas and want to incorporate this into your wedding theme, or for completely different reasons, personal to yourselves as a couple and we know you’ll be getting super excited right about now!

Wedding Invitations:

Wedding invitations are so important, they ensure that you have guests at your wedding (obviously!) but they also help to set the tone of your special day perfectly.

Paper Themes have a wonderful collection of winter inspired wedding invitations, available in a multitude of colours and styles to perfectly complement your big day and help you to invite your family and friends to your big day in style.

Colour scheme:

Winter is the perfect season for gorgeous pastel and frosty colours, from your bridesmaid dresses to your venue décor, soft colours are our shout out for winter weddings and what’s more at this time of year they are everywhere, so you won’t have to worry about struggling to find accessories to perfectly compliment your colour scheme…

We really love the soft, icy blues and pinks, especially perfect for a country winter wedding due to the colours really standing out upon the trees and any snow.

The dress:

The dress, well just because you’re having a winter wedding you don’t have to compromise on the dress of your dreams, perhaps just consider if you could get a shawl or a gorgeous cover up if you’ve opted for a strapless, or sweetheart neckline to keep warm in between shots if you’re going for an outside photo shoot.

The cake:

Who doesn’t love cake, it tastes great and they make a wonderful addition to your décor, so whether you’re opting for a gorgeous frosted or icing creation or you choose the increasingly popular naked wedding cake you are sure to make a great choice.

The weather:

Well the weather, what can we say with UK weather we can keep our fingers crossed for what the weather is supposed to do, but whether it does what it’s supposed to do who knows?!

With a winter wedding there is always the hope for snow, or a beautiful light frost to get the most gorgeous wedding photographs, now speak to your photographer and make sure they are aware of the exact photographs that you want from your big day, don’t forget to discuss alternatives to make the most of the weather on your big day, but if you are lucky enough (if you want it) for a light snow then these photo ops are a great idea:

  • The first look (if this is something you’re into) in the snow
  • Your venue just before dark with snow falling and the two of you stood at the forefront
  • You and the bridal party stood in front of a snowy trees backdrop (venue permitting)

The guests:

It might be a good idea to advise your guests of the location of the venue and whether they will have to walk far from the car parks, just in case of snow or heavy rain, so that they can prepare, for example leave longer for their journey if the venue is quite remote and maybe bring a change of footwear if they have to walk any distances in bad weather!

Also, if it’s forecast to be cold we’re sure some hot drink availability on arrival would go down well!
