traditional wedding breakfast

Have you heard one of the latest wedding trends for 2018 is the removal of the traditional wedding breakfast to make way for I guess a wedding breakfast with a difference.

When I say with a difference everyone still gets fed (guests now breathe a sigh of relief) but the whole affair is someone less formal, more relaxed! Make way for the couples who are opting for wedding breakfast alternatives…

 Afternoon tea:

wedding afternoon tea

We all know how much everyone loves afternoon tea, with the tuna and cucumber sandwiches, delicate scones, cakes… TEA!

But did you know that there are actual companies who are now offering catering services for afternoon tea options for weddings as it is increasing in popularity.

Here at Paper Themes we absolutely adore this idea and we believe we are in good company… I mean hello! Alice in Wonderland, The Queen!

Anyway, back to it a wedding afternoon tea looks amazing, you can really incorporate this into your wedding décor, whether your wedding is hosted in a marquee (think GBBO style) or in a hotel.

The afternoon tea element can really be enhanced with bunting and wedding signage (from paper Themes of course), table cloths, linen napkins and of course delightful waiting staff, you will create the Instagram ready wedding right there in your meal!

You might think whether guests will like this idea, well I’ve gone around our Paper Themes office and spoken to some colleagues to discuss this and get their feedback and the resounding opinion was that everyone would embrace it (even the gents) if there’s enough food to go around!

Take Away Trucks:

Now, not takeaway trucks in the sense that you find in a town centre on a Saturday night, but more the vintage looking trucks offering up wood-fired pizzas, fish and chips, ice cream, prosecco!

You name it… If you are hosting a summer wedding, or a wedding in a marquee and are looking at outside catering options you really should consider the idea of food trucks, they look cool, quirky and not at all like food trucks.

Recently, at the wedding fayres I have come across some quirky options, from VW camper vans turned into ice cream trucks, to horse trailers service prosecco and London buses serving delicious hot pizza...

These could really be a great option if you’re looking to steer away from the traditional wedding breakfast, or looking for something more to suit your personalities as a couple, or considering options prior to choosing your venue, as you may think that your only choice is three course meal at a hotel…

Well brides and grooms it’s not! Also, we’re sure these options would suit the grooms, you may even get them excited about menus, menu tasting and the various wonderful and wild food choices to consider!!

Now, whilst we’re discussing food and steering away from the traditional dining options, have you seen the alternatives to wedding cakes popping up everywhere…

Well, my personal favourite is the donut stacked wedding cake, many of the leading donut companies have jumped on board and are offering delightful donut wedding cakes, or donuts as favours!

We’d love to hear your feedback on this, would you go there, or are you a totally traditional couple who wouldn’t dream of anything other than the norm? Let us know!
